Our fleet of vintage singer sewing machines are historically accurate and help retain the factory finish of your original garments. Where other traditional alterations tailors may not fully appreciate the importance of your selvedge denim, at Anthill we are equipped and ready for all sorts of alterations.

Embroidery
Chainstitch & Satinstitch Embroidery
Anthill workshop is one of the only commercial chain stitch embroiderers in Australia. Founder Anthony Wicks, trained at Levi’s Australia as a free motion embroidery tailor and has now set-up a Fitzroy workshop.
Bespoke and commercial solutions
We are the owners of Australia's largest range of manually operated embroidery machines and work to continue the craft heritage of Chain and Satin stitch embroidery. We accept a range of bespoke comissions. From developing original designs for one off denim jackets or wedding suits, to large scale production work for international clothing manufacturers.

Authentic Chainstitch Hemming Service
Give your denim the authentic, period-correct hem it deserves.
We specialize in chainstitch hemming using our vintage Union Special 43200G machine from the 1950s. This is the legendary Chicago machine that created the original hems on classic denim.
Our hems feature the distinctive 3/8" gauge, precisely mirroring the coveted finish found on mid-20th-century vintage Levi's.
We take authenticity seriously, right down to the thread. We use period-correct 100% cotton threads in a range of shades that match those found on the world's most premium jeans. These high-quality threads, sourced from Japan, are chosen for their superior durability and look.

Garment Restoration & Denim Darning Service
Discreet & Elite Denim Darning
For Jeans, we perform colour-matched darning on the iconic mid-century Singer 47W70. Revered in denim circles for mimicking the original denim weave for a durable and beautiful repair on high-stress areas like crotch blowouts, knees etc.
Pocket Bag Rebuilds, Blow Out Fixes and Garment Restoration
Anthill workshop will meticulously re-cut or reconstruct any part of your favorite jeans. Including but not limited to: torn pocket bags, heel bitten hems and destroyed crotch seams.
We use techniques designed to make the mend as invisible as possible, preserving the original look of your clothing.

Achieve the perfect fit without compromising your denim's integrity or vintage style.
We offer professional Jeans Leg Tapering and Waist Reduction services, focused on delivering a discreet, factory-finish alteration.
